Caserta
Caserta is located in the middle of Via Sannitica, the old road that connected Caserta to Naples. Caserta is also the capital of the same province and is part of the Campania region. The name Caserta derives from the Latin, CASA IRTA: Name indicating the ancient urban center that stood in the Middle Ages, in a high position compared to the plain. This old urban center, today is called Caserta old, famous for the medieval village, the castle, the Duomo, ARAB-ROMANICAL style of 1100. In the current city of Caserta, we find the Bourbon Palace, known as the Royal Palace of Caserta, a largest royal palace in the world, its historic owners were the Bourbons of Naples, and for a short period was the residence of a noble French family, the Murat. In this short period the Royal Palace of Caserta was also called in French, MAISON MURAT.
