To the city of Naples also belong the flegrean islands as the island of Ischia a strong tourist attraction for the gulf of Naples. Ischia is almost ten kilometers wide with a coastline of almost 34 kilometers. The island of Ischia by the Latins was called PHITECUSA, a name that derives from the Greek and means (VASO), the island of the Potters. Thanks to the archaeological excavations of 1993, it appears that,: the first settlers settled on the heights of Chiarito peak, in Panza a fraction of the municipality of Forio.
