Salerno
The province of Salerno also bordering with Mount Vesuvius, has as its capital the City of Salerno. The city is located between the Amalfi coast and the Sele plain, has a predominantly Mediterranean climate. In ancient times the city of Salerno was connected with Pompeii and Naples, with an important Roman road, via Capua-Regium. In the city of Salerno near the Durazzo palace, which was one of the old residences of the Regina Margherita, there is the Provincial Archaeological Museum which houses numerous finds from the period, Etruscan, Roman and Samnite. There are many museums, archaeological finds and castles, such as: the Arechi Castle which dominates the city and the Gulf of Salerno. The castle houses Maioliche and Ceramiche dating back to the twelfth century.
