Sorrento also called romantic and delightful city.
Legend has it that it was founded by the Greeks, but one of the first Italic peoples to inhabit Sorrento was the Etruscans. Sorrento is located about 50 kilometers from Naples and thanks to its geographical area, boasts of an ancient dairy tradition offering magnificent itineraries in search of ancient flavors. Two typical specialties of Sorrento enogastronomy are: Delizia al Limone, a dessert created by a local pastry chef, and Limoncello, a very well-known liqueur in the world, obtained from the lemon peels of Sorrento, alcohol, water and sugar. Sorrento is also famous for its extra virgin olive oil. Sorrento with its charm has inspired poets and musicians. Just in Sorrento in 1892 a famous song was born (TORNA A SURRIENTO), a song that was sung for the first time on the occasion of the Piedigrotta festival in Naples.
