Velia
In the national park of cilento and vallo di diano, there is the archaeological site of VELIA, city of great Greece. Archaeological site of the province of Salerno near the train station of Ascea Marina. The city of Velia was built on a promontory located between Punta Licosa and Palinuro, and the name Velia derives from a source of water that passes behind the promontory. In 88 A.C. Velia became a Roman municipality, maintaining the Greek speaking language. The archaeological excavations of Velia consist of the Hellenistic Baths, Roman Baths, the Acropolis, Porta Marina, Porta Rosa and the Port area.
